Eastern Lake Bike/Hike Trail
Walton County ’s Eastern Lake Bike/Hike Trail is a popular destination for hiking and off-road biking along the Emerald Coast of Florida. The Eastern Lake Trail System was Point Washington State Forest’s first trail system.
The Eastern Lake Bike/Hike Trail is made up of 3.5-, 5.75- and 10-mile loops. Visitors opting to go hiking or mountain biking along the 10-mile loop will pass near the Eastern Lake.
The Eastern Lake Hike/Bike Trail is one of more than 40 Florida hiking and biking trails featured in the Florida Division of Forestry’s Trailwalker Program. Participants in the Trailwalker Program may qualify to receive a special Trailwalker Patch and certificate after hiking over 10 trails in at least five different Florida state forests.
Point Washington State Forest welcomes visitors to enjoy outdoor recreation among the more than 15,258-acres of wetlands, sandhill, Curtiss’ Sandgrass and rare wildlife species, such as the American Kestrel, the Gopher Tortoise and the Flatwoods Salamander. In addition to hiking and biking on the Eastern Lake Trail System, outdoor activities at Point Washington include hunting during fall, winter and early spring, and the forest is a Great Florida Birding Trail destination.

Eastern Lake Bike/Hike Trail Location
Eastern Lake Hike/Bike Trail is located in the southern reaches of Walton County, just off the Gulf of Mexico. Off-road cyclists and hikers may access the Eastern Lake trail from the parking lot and trailhead at County Road 395, a mile south of US Highway 98. Blue Mountain Beach is nearby.
