Biking
Winding through state parks and hundreds of acres of forests are some of the most breathtaking views in Walton County. With more than 40 percent of Walton County’s total acreage dedicated to preservation, hikers and bicyclists can enjoy a scenic and enchanting trip exploring more than 200 miles of trails.

Longleaf Pine Greenway System

Interlaced through several state parks and forests is the Longleaf Pine Greenway System. Comprised of more than 8 miles of trails throughout different areas of the county, this pathway system stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to the Choctawhatchee Bay. Hikers and bicyclists can enjoy paths for the beginner to the expert along these quiet trails. The area’s vast network of trails provides the visitor with endless opportunities to view nature at its most wonderful times. From blooming wildflowers to the dancing sea oats high atop the dunes, the secret lakes among the sugar white sands, there’s always something new to discover.

Eastern Lake Bike/Hike Trail

A three-five,-and ten-mile hiking or biking trail loop in the Point Washington State Forest winds through a variety of natural vegetation and wildlife habitats. Donation accepted.

Timpoochee Trail
One of the longest and most widely used paths in Walton County is the Timpoochee Trail. Named after Timpoochee Kinnard, the most influential Indian Chief of the Euchee Indians, this path runs along Scenic 30-A, parallel to the Gulf of Mexico. This 19- mile, paved trail winds through nine of the thirteen distinctive beach communities traversing state recreational areas, state parks, dunes and coastal dune lakes. Open to hikers and bikers, this trail offers something unique with every passing season. From migrating flocks of birds to blooming wildflowers and trees, the Timpoochee Trail is full of surprises all year long.
