eden gardens state park
Tucked away on the shore of Tucker Bayou is the beautiful, turn-of-the-century Wesley Mansion. The mansion features elegant white columns and a wrap-around porch. Surrounded by moss-draped live oaks (more than 600 years old) and ornamental gardens, the Wesley Mansion inspires visions of hoop skirts and landed gentry. Eden Gardens State Park is part of the estate owned in the 1800s by the Wesleys, a wealthy Florida timber family. In 1963, Lois Maxon bought and renovated the home, creating a showplace for her family heirlooms and antiques. Today, the collection of Louis XVI furniture is the second largest in the United States.
Visitors can enjoy the grounds, gardens, and picnic area from 8 a.m. to sunset. Eden State Gardens is located two miles off U.S. Highway 98 on CR 395 North in historic Point Washington. Guided mansion tours are available Thursday – Monday. Mansion tours are available beginning at 10 a.m., running hourly, with the last tour at 3 p.m. Adult admission is $4.00 and children 12 and under are $2.00.
